About & Contact

The Garage of Books was born when, in 2021, in an attempt to create more space in our house, I moved all my books into the garage. After adding bookshelves, heating, a desk and wifi, I realised that I’d accidentally created a really comfortable place to sit and write.

The cats thought it was quite a nice place to hang out too. So this is where we now meet up every day to sleep (in their case) or get on with whatever work is going on at the time (in mine).

In a world of functional open-plan and hotdesking, the GoB is as unashamedly untidy as the inside of my head. Nestled on the edge of the Gwent levels in South Wales, it’s an unholy jumble of academic research, teaching materials, historical archives, pictures, flags, photos, radios, and the nostalgically preserved remnants of both my and my family’s history.

For the last six months, it’s been the background to a full-time job running and developing an online mentoring platform. That’s coming to an end soon. When it does, I will be delighted to return to the quieter and slower (but admittedly less-well-paid) business of development, training and knowledge-making.

I’d love to meet you through my writing, or my work.

Get in touch, by sending me an email.
