I’ve been involved in research in the Higher Education Sector for over 15 years. I have experience in designing and carrying out diverse projects, developing bespoke methodologies, …

I am used to talking to students and staff at all levels from technicians to Vice-Chancellors. I have worked closely with Pro-Vice Chancellors, Heads of School, Heads of service (OD, HR, IT, Students (UG and PGR)), School Managers, and academic staff from Teaching Fellows and Early Career Researchers, to Professors. I have also consulted with Unions.

I have researched and written literature reviews, authored full reports, co-authored reports and contributed to others’ work.

I have presented to audiences from 10 to 2000, online and in-person, in English, French and Sign Language. I have facilitated discussions and panels, and chaired conference sessions.

2025 – Contributor to Jisc’s TNE research report for Timmus Ltd.

2024: Presentation given at University of Cardiff on “The role of the PI in staff progression and career development”

2024: Working with the University of Bath to design and trial ways to add reliable, repeatable, qualitative data to supplement ‘lived experience’ understanding of quantitative data captured through an online survey.

2024: Improving the Induction experience of newly appointed Research staff at the University of Bath. Methods include interviews, survey data, focus groups, policy analysis. Outputs will be a report and recommendations.

From 2009 to 2014, I worked primarily with national bodies like Vitae, CRAC and Universities UK to deliver the sector’s key benchmarking surveys for postgraduate students (PTES and PRES) and research staff (CROS & PIRLS – now CEDARS).
